Organization - UPDATE ON THE 2020/21 HOCKEY SEASON
Hello Parents & Players,
The way hockey will look as we return to the ice will different. The MMHA and the community hockey associations, in trying to determine what sort of hockey and season we can offer, needs your help.
The hockey associations need to know how many players are willing to participate in minor hockey this year. We are asking parents to pre-register their children with their local associations with their intent to play. No registration fees are required at this time.
How the upcoming hockey season look is yet to be determined. Many changes have been proposed by Hockey Canada and the Ontario Hockey Federation and more changes are likely as we get a better idea of how events unfold around the province. Some of the ideas put forward are a 3 on 3 or 4 on 4 hockey league. Each team would have a maximum number of 10 players per team to comply with the maximum occupancy of 50 persons in a building. Logistics of how this will work will have to be done with consideration for each of the communities’ unique facilities.
None of the planning can move forward without your assistance. However, without a solid understanding of how many people are willing to participate in minor hockey this year, it will be an impossible task.
Please contact your local hockey association and inform them of your decision to have your child participate in minor hockey for the upcoming season.
Thank you in advance for pre-registering your child so that we can plan for the 2020/2021 hockey season.
Sincerely,
Manitoulin Minor Hockey Association Executive.
